Substance Abuse + Mental Health Evaluations
The first step toward a happier, healthier life.
Evaluations are often the first step necessary to get the treatment you need. They can help point you in the right direction so you can begin working toward a happier, healthier and more fulfilling life.
At Best Life Counseling, we offer two types of evaluations: substance abuse evaluations and mental health evaluations.
Substance Abuse Evaluations
After a person is arrested for domestic violence, battery, or drug and alcohol related charges, the legal system sometimes orders a substance abuse evaluation. A substance abuse evaluation is a clinical interview that consists of a series of questions and a review of the person’s alcohol and drug consumption. A urinalysis drug screening is also obtained. Based on the findings by our licensed clinician, substance abuse counseling may or may not be recommended.
Mental Health Evaluations
After an arrest, a person may be ordered by the court to get a mental health evaluation. Most people do not know what to expect and may feel nervous. Understanding what happens during these evaluations may help ease anxiety. During a mental health evaluation, a licensed clinician conducts a Mental Status Exam, facilitates a questionnaire with the participant, and asks a series of questions regarding the individual and family mental health history.
